Less: Grow out of growth: In the realm of sustainable fashion, "Less" emphasizes breaking free from traditional fast fashion models and reducing the scale of production and consumption. This means curbing overconsumption and waste, encouraging streamlined production and purchasing practices, and thereby alleviating the strain on resources. Sustainable fashion promotes buying higher quality and more durable clothing to reduce waste and environmental impact.

Local: Scaling, Recentring: Localization is a crucial concept in sustainable fashion, highlighting the importance of producing and sourcing clothing locally. Local manufacturing reduces transportation and carbon emissions while also supporting the local economy. "Scaling" implies expanding the scale of this localization, encouraging more brands and manufacturers to adopt this model. Simultaneously, "Recentring" underscores the need to reposition the fashion industry, shifting focus from globalization to local demands and resources.

Plural: New Centres for Fashion: Sustainable fashion emphasizes diversity and inclusivity. It not only focuses on traditional fashion centers but also encourages the integration of emerging markets and diverse cultures. This means that fashion should reflect various cultures and body types, promoting diverse and inclusive design and representation.

Learning: New Knowledge, Skills, Mindsets for Fashion: Sustainable fashion demands new knowledge, skills, and mindsets. This includes understanding sustainable materials and production methods, as well as cultivating innovation and problem-solving abilities. Fashion professionals need to continuously learn and adapt to drive the development of sustainable fashion.

Language: New Communication for Fashion: Communication plays a crucial role in sustainable fashion. Brands need to adopt new language and communication methods to convey their sustainability efforts and values. This includes transparency, education, and advocacy to help consumers better understand the products they purchase.

Governance: New Ways of Organizing Fashion: The fashion industry requires new governance models to ensure sustainability. This includes implementing stricter regulatory measures, promoting transparency and ethical practices, and adopting innovative business models to reduce environmental and social impacts.

In summary, sustainable fashion has transcended a simple concept and become a comprehensive transformation. It calls for the fashion industry to operate in a more responsible manner, reducing environmental impacts while also providing opportunities to shape the future of fashion through diversity and innovation.
