LIYILING SHA MAJOR 2 PROCESS JOURNAL

Journal
My design is deeply influenced by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as I have personally experienced this condition and gained a profound understanding of its daily callenges and unique aspects. In this project my goal is to employ a synesthesia sensory design approach to create pieces that authentically reflect how I feel when I am distracted. I am combining personal memories and experiences with patterns that uncontroollably emerge during daydreaming or when I close my eyes.

Jacket process
The silhouette of the jacket is developing from Toile 1. And I have tried the embroidery with multicolor beads.
Feedback from textile tutor Alix, the color palate is good, and bigger scale of the beads.

Beadings with black and white
Based on my experiments, I found that the black and white color beads were more flattering on the gray wool fabric. So I decided to use beads of different shapes and sizes and materials but in a uniform color for my creation. Using silver colored beads gives more visual distraction.
the beading is been stitched under the armhole, is a bit unseen
The beads are stitched in dots and lines to show how people with ADHD think in ways that are scattered like dots but can be connected in lines in the next moment.

Photoshoot plan
Photography research

I think the beadwork on the shoulder seams is very successful, and although it's not obvious from a distance, up close it has a distracting and chaotic feel to it.

Corset and dress process

Drape test are made on Size 12's mannequin table, and finer patterns are made through paper patterns. The size of the corset was changed by fitting the model.
